Taster session on vitreous enamelling on metal to make a pendant or keyring, or to observe the process, taught by Lucy Riveiros.
Lucia Goldsmiths is hosting an introduction to vitreous enamelling on Monday 19 October, with two three-hour sessions running at 10am and 3pm. It's a taster session, so if you've never worked with enamel before, this is a good place to start. The class is taught by Lucy Riveiros, and the whole thing is part of IF Oxford, the city's science and arts festival run by The Oxfordshire Science Festival, which is a registered charity.
Enamelling is essentially the art of fusing powdered glass to metal using a kiln, and that's exactly what you'll be doing here. You can choose to make a pendant or a keyring, and you'll take it home with you when you're finished. If you're not quite ready to get stuck in yourself, there's also an option to just observe the process and see how it's done. All the tools, materials and kiln use are provided, so you don't need to bring anything with you.

The session is aimed at adults aged 16 and over, and since it's a taster, it's as much about seeing how the craft works as it is about making something. It's held at Lucia Goldsmiths, on Oakthorpe Road in Summertown, OX2 7BD. The make-and-take option is £40, and observing is £10.
