Family Halloween disco with dance, making and sensory play led by Roly Carline at the Museum of Oxford.
Museum of Oxford is hosting its Halloween Fam Jam on Tuesday 27 October, a family disco that runs across two sessions: 11.00am to 2.00pm and 2.00pm to 3.00pm. It's part of the museum's wider family programme, and as the name suggests, it's built around a party atmosphere rather than a sit-down performance.
The whole thing is led by Roly Carline, and the day is split into a few different threads that run alongside each other. There's the dance floor for the disco side of things, and then there's making and sensory play for the kids who'd rather be tinkering than dancing. It's designed so you can drift between them, and the museum describes it as a space where everyone is welcome, so it works whether you've got toddlers or older children in tow.
Because it's a Fam Jam, the focus is on the doing rather than just watching. The making and sensory play parts are set up for kids to get stuck in, and the disco provides the energy to keep them moving. It's a good shout for a Tuesday if you're looking for something to do with the family that doesn't involve just sitting in a cinema or a theatre.
