Flamenco and jazz quartet with vocals by Soraya la Morisca, acoustic Spanish guitar, sax and keyboard at the Rose and Crown.
Soraya la Morisca brings Flamenko meets Jazz to the Rose and Crown on Thursday 12 November, a night that does exactly what the title says. It's a crossover between flamenco and jazz, with Soraya on vocals leading a small ensemble. The Spanish guitar provides the flamenco foundation, while the saxophone and keyboard bring in the jazz side of things.
It's a four-piece line-up. Soraya la Morisca takes the vocals, with Marcos on acoustic Spanish guitar, Frank Williams on saxophone and David Marshall on keyboard. The Spanish guitar is the heart of the flamenco sound, and having both a sax and a keyboard alongside it is what pulls the jazz into the mix. It's a small group, so you'll hear each part clearly rather than everything blending into one big wash.
