Weekly Sunday morning co-writing session mentored by writer Kate Oldfield, with a prompt and writing until 1pm, followed by an open mic on the last Sunday.
Come and Write is back at The Lamb & Flag on Sunday 25 October, part of a regular Sunday morning mentored co-writing space that runs throughout the autumn and into the new year. It's hosted and mentored by writer, poet and former publisher Kate Oldfield, and it's open to anyone who wants a dedicated window of time to get words down.
The morning follows a steady rhythm: doors open at 10:30 for an informal check-in, with free tea, coffee and cake on the table before 10:45. At 10:45 there's an optional creative prompt to get you moving, and then you write until 1pm. If you've already got a project on the go, you can ignore the prompt and just use the space for your own work. The room is dog-friendly, so you can bring your four-legged companion along if that helps you settle in.
The venue itself is a proper Oxford pub with deep literary roots. It was a haunt of the Inklings—the circle around C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien—and Thomas Hardy wrote Jude the Obscure here. It runs as a community interest company with a mission to support the local area, and the month rounds off with an open mic on the last Sunday.

It's a 'pay what you can' session, with suggested rates to help you decide: £10 standard, £15-20 if you're in a position to support, £7 if things are tight, £5 if you're feeling skint, or supported free. Beyond 25 October, the sessions continue on 1, 15, 22 and 29 November, 6 and 13 December, and 10, 17, 24 and 31 January. Each one runs 10:30am to 1pm at The Lamb & Flag, 12 St Giles, Oxford.
