Anton Du Beke brings his festive show, combining dance, festive music and Christmas songs, to the New Theatre Oxford.
Anton Du Beke brings his new festive show, Anton at Christmas, to the New Theatre on Friday 11 December. Most of us know him as a dancer and instructor on Strictly Come Dancing, but he's as much a presenter and a writer as he is a dancer — he's even written a book on dancing — and he's got a voice on him that doesn't always come up on the show. He's a regular with jazz standards and songs from classic musicals, and that's where a good bit of this one sits.
It's a brand-new show for the holiday season, and he's not doing it alone. He's joined on stage by a troupe of dancers, a live band, and special guest singer Lance Ellington. The whole thing mixes dance, festive music and Christmas entertainment, with Du Beke telling stories and singing some of the nation's best-loved Christmas songs. He's often described as a natural entertainer, and his wit and humour have made him a popular figure over the years, so expect as much talking and joking as there is dancing.
