Heritage talk from Nottinghamshire Libraries about how diaries, journals and oral histories preserve memories of working life.
Written Lives, Remembered Voices runs at Nottinghamshire Archives on Tuesday 24 November, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. It's part of Nottinghamshire Libraries' heritage talks, a series that looks at how diaries, journals and oral histories preserve memories of working life.
The session is built around those kinds of first-hand accounts. You'll get to hear personal stories, workplace experiences and everyday moments recorded across different generations, and see how people have remembered, documented and shared their lives through words and voices. It's less about the big historical narratives and more about the small, lived details that usually get left out of the textbooks.
It's one of several heritage offerings the archives are running around the same time. There's a talk on the classic Nottinghamshire crime writer Francis Vivian, and a workshop on historical trades and occupations, so if you're in the mood for a bit of local history, you can easily make a day of it.
