First Nottingham edition of Wingtoberfest, a mash-up of Wing Fest and Oktoberfest with chicken wings, beer, Oompah bands, DJs and eating challenges at OUT Nottingham.
Wingtoberfest lands at OUT Nottingham this weekend, Friday 23 and Saturday 24 October, for its first Nottingham edition. It's a mash-up of Wing Fest and Oktoberfest, trading Bavarian tradition for street-food indulgence. The formula is straightforward: foaming steins of beer, stacks of chicken wings, Oompah bands, DJs, eating challenges and long tables of hungry festival-goers, with revellers encouraged to turn up in lederhosen and dirndls.
The food is a big part of it. Mollis, by Michelin-starred chef Alex Bond, will be there alongside traders Kikis, Peck Peck and Gordo's. The organisers expect 30,000 bratwurst and chicken wings to be eaten and 10,000 steins of beer to be served across the weekend. They describe the atmosphere as lederhosen-meets-hot-sauce, like a classic Oktoberfest but with significantly more hot sauce.
