Small-group Christmas wreath-making workshop led by Jo, STAA's in-house florist, in the off-grid Strawbale building at St Ann's Allotments.
St Ann's Allotments are hosting a twilight Christmas wreath making workshop on Thursday 26 November, from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. It's part of their wider Workshops collection, and the whole thing is led by Jo, the charity's CEO and a self-described bloom aficionado. She grew up in her family's flower business in Yorkshire and now runs the charity, so she's as much a florist as she is the person in charge.
The workshop takes place in the Strawbale building, which is a bit of a curiosity in its own right. It's an off-grid structure hand-built from straw bales and weatherproofed with clay from the site, with a living roof for insulation and a log burner to keep things warm. There's music, twinkling lights and lanterns inside, and it's a short walk from the main gate. The allotments themselves are the oldest and largest area of Victorian detached town gardens in the world, Grade 2* listed by Historic England, covering 75 acres with 700 gardens and more than 30 miles of hedgerow. STAA is the small charity that manages projects across more than 30 of those plots, providing community benefit and volunteering opportunities.

On the night, the groups are kept small—ten people maximum—and festive drinks and nibbles are served throughout, so it's as much about the company as the wreath. The session runs from 6 pm to 8:30 pm at the Strawbale building, St Ann's Allotments, Ransom Road, Nottingham NG3 3LH, and tickets are £65.71.
