Workshop led by Jo, STAA's in-house bloom aficionado, to make Christmas wreaths at the Strawbale Building in St Ann's Allotments.
St Ann's Allotments are hosting a Christmas wreath making workshop on Saturday 21 November, starting at 13:30. It's run by Jo, the STAA in-house bloom aficionado, who's a Yorkshire native and the charity's CEO. She comes from a family background in floristry, so you're in safe hands whether you've never touched a piece of greenery before or you've got a few wreaths under your belt.
The session is limited to ten people, which keeps it small and means you'll get plenty of expert guidance throughout. All the materials are included, so you don't need to bring anything but yourself. There are festive drinks and nibbles on the go, too, so it's as much about the afternoon as it is about what you take home.
It's held in the Strawbale Building, a one-off structure hand-built from straw bales and weatherproofed with on-site clay. It's off-grid, powered by solar panels and a log-burner, and sits inside the Community Orchard, the charity's garden of mature fruit trees. The allotments themselves are the oldest and largest area of Victorian detached town gardens in the world, Grade 2* Listed by Historic England, covering 75 acres with 700 gardens and more than 30 miles of hedgerow. STAA is a small charity that runs projects across more than 30 plots and offers volunteering opportunities.
