Bi-monthly meet-up for over-18s writers and actors in the East Midlands where a submitted script is performed on the night and feedback is given.
The Script Social is back at Broadway Cinema on Thursday 29 October, from 6pm to 9pm. It's a bi-monthly meet-up for writers and actors across the East Midlands, run by Script East Midlands, and it alternates between in-person sessions in Nottingham and online ones via Zoom. This one is in the room.
The format is hands-on rather than a seated audience thing. A writer submits a script, the roles are cast on the night, and actors perform it right then and there. Once it's off the page, the room of writers and actors gives feedback to help the writer develop the next draft. After that, there's social time to forge new connections. It's a working session, so you're seeing the process as much as the result.
If you're an actor, there's a bit of a head start: the organisation has already secured its actor cohort up until Summer 2027, so the pool is sorted. The sessions are for over-18s and run for around three hours, which gives plenty of time for the reading, the feedback, and the socialising that follows. It's as much about the people in the room as it is about the scripts.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Nottingham and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

It's free to attend, and if you want to have a script performed, that's £10 — though it's free for ScriptEM Patreon members. The next one is Thursday 10 December, also 6-9pm at Broadway Cinema, 14-18 Broad Street, Nottingham NG1 3AL.
