BAFTA-nominated comedian Rachel Parris brings her stand-up tour, mixing her best musical bits from the past fifteen years with new material.
Rachel Parris brings her new show, The Rachel Parris Songbook, to Nottingham Playhouse on Tuesday 17 November, 7:30pm. It's a stand-up set that puts her musical comedy front and centre, drawing on fifteen years of songs and sketching them alongside fresh material written for the tour. You'll hear some of her best-known numbers — 'Speedy Boarder', 'Girl With A Diamond Finger', 'I Went To The Gym' and 'Hen Do On A Train' — sitting beside the newer stuff. The show is billed as smart, playful and occasionally gloriously ridiculous, leaning on comic timing and observed character work, and audiences are encouraged to sing along, with a cappella possibly included. Critics have called it classy, clever and uproarious comedy.
Parris is a BAFTA-nominated comedian, perhaps best known for The Mash Report and as a regular on British panel shows, with appearances on Have I Got News For You, Mock The Week, QI, Would I Lie To You and Live at The Apollo. She's also a familiar voice on Radio 4's Just A Minute and I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, and a cast member and founder of the award-winning improv show Austentatious. This tour brings those different threads together, mixing the songs she's become known for with the stand-up she's writing now.
