Interactive music quiz with chart classics and party anthems from the 1960s to today, followed by a DJ set.
Sounds Familiar is taking over Saltbox on Saturday 19 December, and it's not your usual pub quiz. They describe it as more of a party than a trivia night, and the format reflects that: rather than sitting in silence with a pen and paper, the whole room plays along throughout the afternoon. The rounds are built around chart classics, old skool anthems, indie bangers, mash-ups, power ballads and guilty pleasures, with more than 100 tunes spanning the 1960s to the present day. It's as much about the music as the answers.
There's a bit of a track record behind the name, too. They claim to be the only music quiz to have sold out The Camden Roundhouse, to have supported the boy band 5ive and to have played Glastonbury more times than David Bowie. Whether you're there for the competition or just for the songs, the afternoon is designed to keep the energy up across the board.
One of the best bits is how you can play. Team tickets range from pairs up to large groups of 50, so it works as well for a couple of friends as it does for a proper work or family outing. If you've got a big group, it's one of the easier ways to get everyone together for a few hours without it feeling like a chore.

Doors open at 14:00, and the quiz starts at 15:00 sharp, so don't leave it too late if you want to be settled in before the first round kicks off. When the quiz wraps up, a DJ keeps things going until 19:00, so you can stay on for a few drinks after the winners are announced. Tickets are £13.20 including fees, and you'll find it at Saltbox in Bolero Square, Nottingham NG1 1LY.
