Immersive sound and gong bath session led by Neil Boocock and Jean Eatoe to still the mind and soothe the soul.
Neil Boocock and Jean Eatoe are running a sound gong bath at The Centre at St Peters in Ravenshead on Friday 12 November. If you've never been to one, the name is a bit of a giveaway: you lie down and let the sound wash over you, like being submerged in water. That's where the 'bath' part comes from.
During the session, the practitioners play a selection of instruments — gongs, Tibetan singing bowls, drums and gentle vocal tones — and the sound waves move through the room around you. The aim is to still the mind and soothe the soul. Boocock and Eatoe say it can reduce stress and anxiety, encourage mindful thoughts, boost the immune system, release negative thoughts and help with pain management by releasing endorphins. It's also recommended for people with autism, Parkinson's and fibromyalgia, and some find resolution to emotional issues during the session.
