Crash course in piping to decorate a 5-inch Smuttercup inspired by 1990s aesthetics, for people who grew up in the nineties.
Smuttercups are running a 90s cake decorating workshop at Handmade Nottingham on Sunday 8 November, from 1:00 to 3:30pm. It's a two-and-a-half-hour crash course in piping, and you'll spend it decorating your own five-inch Smuttercup inspired by 1990s aesthetics — and the sillier the better.
The whole thing is aimed at people who grew up in the nineties or who just have a soft spot for the decade. The organiser frames it as a chance to relive the years that gave us 'absolute fucking bangers and some truly criminal fashion choices', so if you've got a fondness for the era's particular brand of chaos, that's exactly the spirit they're after. You'll be working on your own cake, and the goal is to lean into that 90s look rather than keep things tidy.
There's no professional baking experience needed here. You just need a willingness to get creative, have a laugh, and leave with something edible, no matter how it looks when you're finished. It's as much about the process as the result, and you'll walk away with your own cake to take home. The session is for ages 16 and over, so it's open to adults and older teens alike.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Nottingham and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.
