Beginner-friendly lino print workshop with tutor Karen Miele, suitable for those new to printmaking.
Handmade Nottingham is hosting a beginners lino print workshop on Saturday 14 November, from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. It's a three-hour session, so you'll be in and out before lunch, and it's run by Karen Miele, a Cornish artist who's been printmaking for 25 years. She's spent the last eight of those teaching creative workshops to both adults and children, and she also works as a digital designer, so she's used to explaining things to people who are starting from scratch.
The session is built for beginners, and it uses safe wash inks, which means you won't need to worry about harsh chemicals or a complicated clean-up. Over the course of the morning, you'll work through the basics of lino printing—carving your design into a linoleum block and printing it onto paper—and you'll leave with your own edition of artwork to take home. Along with the prints, you get a fact sheet with tips on how to keep printing at home, where to pick up your own supplies, and a few artists to follow if you want to see where the medium can go.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Nottingham and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

It's held at Handmade Nottingham, 8 King's Walk, NG1 2AE, right in the city centre. Tickets are £38 plus a booking fee, and that includes tea and biscuits to keep you going through the morning. If your plans change, you can get a refund up to seven days before the event, so there's a bit of a safety net if you're not sure you can make it.
