Stand-up show 'Chop Logic' by Rhys James, known for his work on the reboot of Mock the Week, at Nottingham Playhouse.
Rhys James brings his show Chop Logic to Nottingham Playhouse on Saturday 3 April 2027, at 7.30pm. You might know him from the reboot of Mock the Week, but that's just one part of the picture. He's a stand-up and a writer who's worked across radio and TV — he starred in BBC Radio 4's Rhysearch, appeared on QI and Live At The Apollo, and gave the viral U&Dave lecture 'I Stalk Strangers Online'.
Chop Logic is billed as a fast, forensic hour of big ideas and gag-dense overthinking. It's the kind of set that doesn't just lean on a few punchlines but keeps working a premise over, and the reviews reflect that. The Times gave it four stars and called it 'scintillating stand-up', while Chortle described it as 'a superb tour de force of observational comedy, delivered with punchy, rapid-fire certainty'. Edinburgh Festivals Magazine went one further and awarded it five stars.
There's a fair bit of praise from people who know their way around a comedy room, too. Richard Osman has called him 'one of the funniest men in the world', and The Independent described him as 'a clever wordsmith with great timing'. Between the big-name endorsements and the critical reception, it's easy to see why the Nottingham date is already sold out.
