Monthly open mic night for singers and songwriters from beginners to pros, followed by a multicultural jam session, at the Sumac Centre.
Sumac Centre hosts its open mic on Friday 6 November, from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. It's part of a regular series that usually runs on the first Friday of the month, so if you miss this one, there's usually another around the corner. The night is open to everyone from beginners to pros, and it's often followed by a jam session with a multicultural mix of musicians, so you can stick around and play on after the main slots are done.
Sumac Centre is an independent community and social centre in Nottingham that works in a spirit of co-operation and mutual aid. It's a vegan space, and it provides meeting space for groups and individuals promoting social justice, environmental awareness, peace and animal rights. The open mic is one part of its wider programme of community activity, which includes the Forest Fields Social Club and projects like the People's Kitchen, Veggies Catering Campaign and the Nottingham Green Festival. The centre also hires out rooms for campaign workshops, band practices, meetings and fundraiser gigs.

There's a Facebook group that gathers announcements, feedback, reviews and community chat around the open mic, so it's a good place to keep track of what's coming up. If you're bringing someone younger, under-18s must be accompanied by an adult who remains responsible for them. Entry is £5.00, and the night runs from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Sumac Centre, 245 Gladstone Street, Forest Fields, Nottingham NG7 6HX.
