Stand-up comedy show by Lindsey Warnes exploring the history and community of swimming in lidos, part of the Amplify Seasons: Autumn showcase.
Lindsey Warnes brings her new show Lido - A Love Story to the Nottingham Playhouse on Friday 23 October, at 8.30pm in the Neville Studio. It's a one-hour piece that takes a deep dive into the world of lidos, celebrating the people, communities and history that make them special, and Warnes's own lifelong love affair with swimming outdoors. It's built from live performance, storytelling, projection, voice recordings and music, drawing on her experience as an outdoor swimmer. She won an Arts Council DYCP funding bid in 2023 to develop the piece.
Warnes is a writer, performer and award-winning comedian, and the show headlines Amplify Seasons: Autumn, the showcase arm of Amplify, the Playhouse's artist development programme for Midlands creatives. Amplify is now in its eighth year, with more than 1,200 members and support from The Fenton Arts Trust and the Noel Coward Foundation. The show is captioned for the deaf and hard of hearing, and dryrobes are optional.
