Stand-up show 'Born Aggy' from East London comedian Laura Smyth, who traded a career as an English teacher for comedy.
Laura Smyth brings her new show Born Aggy to Nottingham Playhouse on Thursday 19 November, part of her 2026 tour. It's a stand-up night, and she's the only name on the bill.
Smyth is an East London comic who swapped a career as an English teacher for the stage, and the rise since then has been fast. Her debut tour, Living My Best Life, sold out across the country, growing from 29 dates to 48 and finishing at the Indigo at The O2. She's supported Jack Whitehall, Michelle de Swarte, Alan Davies and Jason Manford, and is a regular on the panel circuit, with appearances on QI, Would I Lie To You, 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Live at The Apollo. She also starred in all six episodes of Outsiders Series 3 on Dave and co-hosts the podcast Shouldn't Laugh But with Carmen Butcher. Her BBC Radio 4 special I Don't Know What to Say won the Gold Comedy Award at the 2024 ARIAS.
As for the material, she's beaten cancer and tried every alternative healing she could shake a stick at, and she still thinks everyone's a d*ckhead. Like her last tour, she tackles the chaos of everyday life with blunt honesty, warmth and hilarity.
