Camp comedian Julian Clary brings his stand-up show 'Fully Dilated' to Nottingham Playhouse.
Julian Clary brings his new show Fully Dilated to Nottingham Playhouse on Friday 16 April 2027, starting at 7.30pm. It's a stand-up set that runs for 110 minutes, so you're in for nearly two hours of him on stage.
In Fully Dilated, Clary says he's decided to open up to the public and reveal all, no longer hiding behind the stage persona that made him. He promises to talk about things that would get him flogged in Dubai and pointed at in Peckham, and to air the intimate secrets and the traumas that led him to become a camp comic and a renowned gay man. It's a more personal angle than the usual double-entendres and sharp asides he's known for. The Daily Telegraph called him 'the doyen of camp comedy' and gave it four stars, and The Times also awarded the show 4/5.
The run follows a ten-performance debut at the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, which was billed as his first appearances at the festival in 17 years. If you've only known him from the TV, it's worth remembering how wide his career goes. He started on the cabaret circuit as 'The Joan Collins Fan Club' and became a household name in the late 1980s, with TV work including Sticky Moments, Terry and Julian, Strictly Come Dancing, QI, Taskmaster and Celebrity Gogglebox. On stage he's starred in Taboo, Cabaret, Le Grand Mort, The Dresser and Bleak Expectations, and played Herod in the touring production of Jesus Christ Superstar. He's also a novelist.
