Stand-up show by Jon Pearson at The Magic Garden for the Just the Tonic New Year's Eve Comedy Special.
Jon Pearson is performing at The Magic Garden on Thursday 31 December, the night the city rings in 2027. It's part of the Just the Tonic New Year's Eve Comedy Special, which splits the night into two separate shows at the venue on Low Pavement, with Pearson taking the late slot.
If you're not familiar with him, Pearson is a stand-up who spends as much time running the room as he does on it. He's known as an MC, and that's where the Just the Tonic billing leans in: they describe him as "one of the best MCs in the business", a line they attribute to fellow comedian Darren Harriott. It's a good shorthand for how he works — keeping a room together and steering the energy of a night, which is exactly the kind of thing that matters when you're dealing with a New Year's Eve crowd.
Because it's a double-bill night, you've got a choice of when to head in. There's an early show and a late show, both at The Magic Garden, so you can either get your comedy in and be home before the midnight fireworks or make this the main event of your evening. Pearson is the name on the late show, and since it's New Year's Eve, it's one of those nights where the timing of the show is as much a part of the plan as the act itself.
