Club night with DJ and producer JFK at The Nest, home of Notts County FC.
JFK is playing The Nest at Notts County FC on Saturday 9 January, a night that brings one of the UK's most established trance names to Nottingham.
If you've followed the scene for a while, you'll know the name. JFK has spent the last 15 years at the top of the UK club circuit, picking up high spots in DJ Magazine's Top 100 and being voted Mixmag's favourite resident DJ. He was discovered by Judge Jules, who signed him to his agency SERIOUS, and later joined the record label Y2K. It was there that Ben Beardsworth — who helped develop The Prodigy on XL Records — got personally involved in the negotiations for him to record. That led to three club anthems: 'Good God', which hit number 67 in the UK charts; 'The Sound of Blue' at 75; and 'Whiplash', which reached 46 and nearly broke the Top 40 without any radio play.
He's played in more than 20 countries, but he's most closely associated with Passion in Coalville. He played the first ever record there nearly 15 years ago and later took over its promotion. That connection led to some massive sets: in 2006, 'JFK THE RETURN' was a six-hour set for 2,500 people, and on 29 August 2009, 'THE FINAL' was a seven-hour finale. This Nottingham date sits in that same trance tradition.
