How to build the perfect winter capsule wardrobe

John Lewis Nottingham is running a winter capsule wardrobe masterclass on Saturday 21 November, starting at 11:00 am. It's held in The Style Studio on the first floor, and there's a second session running alongside it, so you've got a couple of slots to choose from.

The session is run by the store's personal styling team, who'll walk you through their latest fashion finds and the key trends and must-have essentials shaping the season. They'll be talking through luxurious chunky knits and the ultimate layering pieces, and showing how to get multiple versatile looks out of a few hero pieces, rather than buying a whole new wardrobe for the cold months. They'll also share their own favourites from the new collections, so you get a sense of what they're actually wearing.

It's a member-exclusive masterclass, and it sits within the John Lewis Christmas shop, which opened across the country with 93 days to go. This year the shop is leaning into a nostalgic, analogue mood—vinyl record sales are up 98% and the retro Native Union Pop Phone has spiked 186%—and the decorations reflect that, with a 70s disco mouse, a miniature arcade game and a cassette tape. There are also new yeti characters that double as collectable handbag charms. One new addition for 2026 is on-the-spot personalisation for any cashmere item you buy.

The masterclass costs £10 per person, which is redeemable against any John Lewis purchase, so if you end up picking up something from the new collections, the session effectively pays for itself.
