Free 45-minute session of Chen-style Tai Chi and Qigong led by Dr Lan Guo at Jubilee Campus.
Dr Lan Guo is leading another free Tai Chi and Qigong session at the A18 Siyuan Center, Jubilee Campus on Tuesday 27 October, starting at 17:15. It's a 45-minute class, and it's open to all fitness levels, so you don't need any prior experience to join in. This is the third session in an Autumn Term series run by the Nottingham Confucius Institute, which meets every Tuesday from 6 October to 8 December, with the exception of 20 October.
Each class blends Chen-style Tai Chi with Qigong, including the Ba Duan Jin ('Eight Brocades') and the Essential 18 Forms, alongside guided warm-ups and mindful breathing. You'll also pick up a few simple Chinese words and phrases naturally as you practice. Tai Chi began as a martial art for self-defence and has evolved into a graceful, low-impact practice, while Qigong is an ancient Chinese health tradition rooted in medicine and meditation, focused on breath awareness and the cultivation of life energy, or qi. The result is described as a gentle combination of mindful movement, stretching, breathing and relaxation to reduce stress and boost wellbeing.
