Creative writing workshop with Heather Ivatt on finding and fixing plot holes in fantasy and science fiction, organised by Nottingham Writers' Studio.
Heather Ivatt is running a writing workshop at Broadway Cinema on Saturday 5 December, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. It's called Finding the Plot, and it's organised by Nottingham Writers' Studio.
The whole session is built around the Ivatt Editorial approach to solving plot holes, which breaks the process down into four steps: Find it, Filter it, Fix it, and Feel it out. The method draws on change management and continuous improvement techniques, so it's a structured way of working through a story rather than just waiting for inspiration to strike. The first half of the workshop sets out the method, and the second half is practical: you bring plot holes from your own work and run them through those four Fs. If you've got a story that's stalled or a gap in your narrative you can't quite bridge, that's exactly what you'll be working on.
