Hands-on cooking class to make chutneys and jams, followed by an autumn foraging tour of the Pippley Walled Garden.
Pippley Cookery School is running a chutneys and jams class at Pippley Walled Garden on Wednesday 6 October 2027, from 9:30am to 4:30pm. It's a full day's thing, seven hours in total, and it's open to anyone aged 16 and over.
The day splits its time between the kitchen and the grounds. You'll spend the first part in the cookery school, making your own chutneys and jams under the guidance of the Pippley chefs. Once you've got your jars sorted, you'll head out into the garden for an autumn foraging tour led by the head gardener, where you'll help with the harvest. It's a hands-on day, so you're doing the work yourself rather than just watching.
The cookery school opened in January 2026 and is built around the garden's philosophy of cooking in tune with the environment and using ingredients grown on site. That's the logic behind the day: you spend time in the kitchen and then go out into the grounds to see where the produce comes from. The school is located within the Pippley Walled Garden on Wollaton Road in Beeston, NG9 3DA.
