Christmas stand-up show with Angelos Epithemiou, Tom Taylor, Olivia Lee and Imran Yusuf at Just the Tonic Comedy Club in Nottingham.
Just The Tonic are bringing a Christmas comedy special to Metronome on Saturday 12 December, with four stand-ups on the bill. It's a proper mixed bag of a night, and since it's a special, it's a good one to gather a group for if you're looking for something to do around the city that weekend.
Leading the line-up is Angelos Epithemiou, the character comedian you'll recognise from Shooting Stars, Never Mind The Buzzcocks and The Rob Brydon Show. He's joined by Tom Taylor, whom Isy Suttie described as 'the best jumper in comedy and really really well written jokes' — a bit of a nod to his low-key stage presence and the tight writing that does the heavy lifting. Olivia Lee is also on the bill, with Sky News calling her stand-up 'explicit, candid and very funny'. And then there's Imran Yusuf, whose show Time Out gave four stars and called 'the birth of a new comedy star'.
Between the four of them, you've got a fair spread of styles: Epithemiou's character work, Taylor's dry writing, Lee's candidness, and Yusuf's rising profile. It's the kind of line-up where you'll likely find something to latch onto, even if you don't love every single act.

A couple of practical things to keep in mind before you head down. The venue is now cashless, so you'll need a card for anything you buy on the night. If you're thinking of food, there's no kitchen inside, but you can pre-order pizza from Peter Pizzeria on Pepper Street, Bridlesmith Gate, which is about a seven-minute walk away. Doors open at 20:00, last entry is 20:45, and the show starts at 21:00. A standard ticket is £20.
