Late-night DJ session by CHECKMATE with R&B, Afrobeats, Amapiano and Bashment, presented by AVG PRODZ x FTB.
CHECKMATE takes over Liquid Library on Wednesday 28 October, a DJ set presented by AVG PRODZ x FTB. It's a mid-week one, starting at 22:00 and running through into Thursday morning, so it's more of a late-night thing than a standard evening out.
The music covers a broad stretch of R&B, Afrobeats, Afroswing, Amapiano and Bashment, so you'll hear a fair bit of the dancefloor sounds that have been moving across the city lately. It's a wide enough mix that it doesn't just stick to one corner of the room.
What sets the night apart is how the promoters have framed it. They've built the whole thing around a game: 'Two teams. One night. One board. Every move matters and the only objective is to take over the night.' It's a bit of a conceptual hook for a DJ set, and they lean into it with the dress code. They run it strictly: no tracksuits, no hoodies, no bubble shoes and no manbags. Cameras will be active throughout the night, and they urge everyone to 'make every move count'.

If you're planning to head down, keep that dress code in mind before you leave the house. Entry is £15 to £20, with limited entry in place, so it's worth getting there early rather than leaving it late. It kicks off at 22:00 at Liquid Library, 17 Goldsmith St, Nottingham NG1 5JT.
