Creative workshop led by playwriter Rae Mainwaring to explore personal 'bright places' and pockets of joy, open to everyone.
Rae Mainwaring is running a creative workshop at Nottingham Playhouse on Tuesday 27 October, from 15:30 for ninety minutes. Mainwaring is the award-winning writer of the play Bright Places, and this session is built around that same title. The whole thing is described as a light and relaxed creative workshop, and the idea is to explore your own 'bright places'—those pockets of joy that keep you going even when things are at their hardest. It's a session that leans into the chatting side of things as much as the writing, with biscuits on the table and plenty of playing around with ideas.
There's no previous experience needed and you don't need any particular artistic talent to get involved. The session is designed for people living with MS or a chronic illness and their friends or family, but it's open to everyone, so you don't have to fit into either of those categories to take part. If you've never done a writing workshop before, that's fine—it's more about the conversation and the thinking than producing a finished piece of work.
