Beginner salsa class for people with no prior experience and no partner needed, followed by a guided mini-social.
Salsaché are running their beginner salsa class at The Kimberley School on Monday 26 October, and it's built for people who have never danced salsa before. You don't need any prior experience, and you don't need a partner — newcomers are encouraged to turn up on their own. The night runs as a progressive course, taking in the foundations step by step: basic steps, timing, and partnerwork. At 9:30pm, there's a guided mini-social where everyone puts what they've just learned into practice. The whole thing wraps up by 10:00pm.
Salsa itself is a lively, rhythmic style rooted in Cuba, Puerto Rico, New York, and the Caribbean. Within that, Cuban Salsa (Casino) and Crossbody or 'New York' style sit side by side as distinct styles. Salsaché teaches both: Cuban Salsa and Rueda on Tuesdays in Nottingham, and Beginner Crossbody Salsa on Thursdays in Arnold and Woodthorpe. If you're just starting out, the Monday night is the place to get the basics down first.
