Over-18s gig by Australian folk band Any Young Mechanic, with support from Veduna, at The Chapel in The Lace Market.
Any Young Mechanic play The Chapel on Monday 26 October, as part of their 2026 UK tour. They're a five-piece from Tarntanya/Adelaide, Australia, and the Nottingham date is one of several stops they're making across the country this year. Opening the night is Veduna, so there are two acts on the bill.
The band's name comes from a line in 'Hooray For Hollywood', and they've talked about how the song's jarring use in Robert Altman's The Long Goodbye inspired it. Their debut album, The Modern Shoe Is Ruining The Foot, is where you'll find the sound they're touring: they describe it as blending folk music's enduring charms with widescreen, cinematic qualities. It's that mix of the intimate and the expansive that defines the record, and it's what they'll be bringing to the stage.
