A three-hour workshop for writers, directors, performers and early-career producers on pitching ideas, funding applications and making work happen.
Nottingham Playhouse is hosting an Amplify workshop on Monday 9 November, a three-hour session that breaks down the basics of pitching ideas and projects. It's aimed at writers, directors, performers and early-career producers, and it runs in the Understudy, the Playhouse's smaller space on Wellington Circus. If you can't make it in person, there's an online version running on the same date.
The session covers the practical side of getting work off the ground: how to pitch an idea, how to approach funding applications and how to actually make a project happen. It's led by three Midlands artists who work across writing and producing. Josie White is a Nottingham writer and producer whose work explores young people navigating power, mental health, identity and complicity, with credits including ROTTEN (UK Tour), Love Me or Die, Trailblazers and the development of Aftermath. Jas Nisic is a producer who centres new writing and underrepresented voices, with credits such as Gwenda's Garage and Queens of the Desert. Dan McVey is a 2024/25 New Associate for New Perspectives, whose adaptations of Woyzeck and Doctor Faustus have played at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Nottingham Lakeside Arts, and whose script Richard of York was a top 10 finalist in the Carlo Annoni International Playwriting Award 2024.

Between them, they cover writing, producing, performing and stage management, so the session draws on a few different ways of working. The workshop is made possible by an Arts Council Project Grant. It starts at 18:00 and runs for three hours, and it's free for Amplify members.
