Casual, jargon-free afternoon introducing the basics of cybersecurity to non-technical professionals, entrepreneurs and startup founders.
A Beginners Guide to Cybersecurity runs at Bar Esquina on Thursday 29 October, from 1 pm to 5 pm. It's a four-hour workshop put on by RACE: Risk & Compliance Events, and it's pitched as a casual, in-person introduction to the basics of cybersecurity. The organisers are clear about who it's for: non-technical professionals, entrepreneurs and startup founders, rather than IT specialists. They've promised no tech jargon and easy-to-understand tips on how to keep people and a business safe online.
The afternoon kicks off with registration and networking over a light lunch and refreshments. From there, the programme works through current business risks and the Cyber Essentials Scheme, before moving on to building a defensive strategy and the human side of cybercrime. There's a guest speaker along the way, and the session wraps up with a Q&A and networking drinks. If you're running a small business or just starting one, it's a good way to get a handle on the basics without having to wade through the technical side of things.
If you fancy staying on, the workshop is followed by the 1st RACE Annual Networking Spectacular, a business networking event in aid of The Bipolar Lift. So you could make a full day of it: the workshop in the afternoon and the networking evening after. The whole thing is held at Bar Esquina, 108 Upper Parliament Street, Nottingham NG1 6LF.
