Talk by AI ethicist Eleanor Drage on the future of artificial intelligence, with book sales and signing, at the Norwich Book Festival.
Eleanor Drage will be speaking at The Auditorium on Sunday 25 October, as part of the Norwich Book Festival. She's one of the world's leading AI ethicists, and the talk is titled What if We Got AI Right. It's a human-centred look at where artificial intelligence is headed, and Drage describes it as a radically hopeful vision of the future.
If you've been following the AI conversation lately, you'll know it's usually split between two extremes: the utopian promise that it'll solve everything and the dystopian fear that it'll break everything. Drage's approach sits somewhere else. Instead of asking what AI might do to us, she asks what happens if we actually get it right — and what a future built on those terms would look like. It's a talk that puts people, rather than the technology, at the centre of the frame.
There's more to the session than just the talk. Drage will be selling and signing her book on the day, so if you're into the subject, it's a good chance to get a copy and have a word with her after she's finished. The talk itself starts at 11am, and it falls within the wider Norwich Book Festival, which runs from 24 to 30 October across the city.
