A night of true personal storytelling in which people share real stories from their own lives in front of a supportive audience.
True Stories Live returns to Norwich Arts Centre on Sunday 20 December with a session called Fallen Angels. The whole thing is built on a pretty simple idea: people stand in front of a warm, supportive audience and tell true stories from their own lives. There's no script and no polished performance here — just people talking about things that actually happened to them.
The format relies on community and empathy, and the room roots for the storyteller as much as for the story itself. Because the stories are true and the setting is so direct, it's the kind of night that can go in any direction — moving one moment, lively the next, and always unpredictable. It's less about a curated line-up and more about the people who turn up to share.
If you've never been, it's a good one to bring a friend along to. The focus is on the storytelling, and the atmosphere comes from the room listening together. It's a night that works best when you're part of that audience, rooting for whoever is standing up there.
