Immersive fine-art light and sound installation by the partnership of sculptor Peter Walker and composer David Harper, exploring humanity's relationship with time.
Luxmuralis brings Time to Norwich Cathedral from Tuesday 27 to Saturday 31 October, an immersive light and sound installation that takes over the cathedral's ancient stone. It's the first time the partnership has come to the cathedral, and they're setting the building ablaze with light to take you on a journey through humanity's relationship with time. The experience draws on the theories of relativity and H.G. Wells' The Time Machine, starting back at the formation of our planet and working its way forward until it culminates in the Nave.
Luxmuralis is the collaboration between sculptor Peter Walker and composer David Harper. They've shown their work across the UK and around the world, at places like Westminster Abbey, The Tower of London and Washington National Cathedral, so this is their first visit to Norwich. The installation is fine art in light and sound, and it's aimed at all ages, so it's as much for kids as it is for adults.
Visits last about 45 minutes on average, though you can stay as long as you like, and there's an accessible route available. The money raised goes towards the cathedral's daily running costs and conservation work.
