The Wonder Stuff and Inspiral Carpets play a career-spanning set at the UEA's Nick Rayns LCR.
The Wonder Stuff and Inspiral Carpets are playing together at The Nick Rayns LCR on Saturday 24 October, a double bill that puts two of the era's biggest names on one stage. It's a long way from the pubs and clubs they started in, and having them on the same night is a bit of a throwback to when they were both charting.
The Wonder Stuff are turning up with their long-time line-up: Miles Hunt on vocals and guitar, Malc Treece on guitar and vocals, Erica Nockalls on violin and vocals, Mark Gemini Thwaite on guitar, Tim Sewell on bass, and Pete Howard on drums. That's a full six on stage, with the violin and the second guitar giving them a thicker sound than a standard four-piece. They're playing a career-spanning set, so they'll be reaching back across their records rather than sticking to one particular era.
Between the two of them, the night sits in the alternative rock and post-Britpop indie tradition of the late eighties and nineties. If you've followed either band, you'll know they both came out of that same guitar-led scene, and seeing them together brings that whole period back into one room. The Wonder Stuff's set will draw from their long run of albums, with the violin and the dual guitars playing a big part in the sound.

It's a Saturday night in Norwich, and the show runs from 6.30pm to 10.00pm at The Nick Rayns LCR, which is part of the UEA campus over at Union House, NR4 7TJ. With two bands on the bill, it's a full evening of music rather than a quick turn around, and the setlist will pull from the whole of their recording careers.
