London band The Hanging Stars play a standing show at Norwich Arts Centre with their album 'Just A Day'.
The Hanging Stars play Norwich Arts Centre on Saturday 7 November, bringing their sixth album, Just A Day, to the stage. It's a London band returning to the city, and the set is built around the new record, which came out on 19 June via Loose Music.
Just A Day is a collection of four-part harmonies, shimmering twelve-string guitars and chiming songs that touch on longing, new beginnings and the fragility of the everyday. It was recorded at Edwyn Collins' Clashnarrow Studios in the Scottish Highlands and produced by Gerard Love of Teenage Fanclub and Sean Read of Dexy's Midnight Runners. The sound draws on classic influences ranging from The Byrds and Big Star to The Feelies, Spiritualized, Teenage Fanclub and Tom Petty, or Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground jamming with Gorky's Zygotic Mynci — a record that feels both classic and vibrant.
It's a standing show, so you'll be on your feet for the night. The music is built on those four-part harmonies and the jangle of twelve-string guitars, so it's the kind of thing that works well in a room like the Arts Centre. The album's themes of longing and new beginnings run through the songs, and the whole thing comes from a band that's now six records in.
