Popular-science talk by Millie Gooch about how alcohol affects the mind, with book signing, at the Norwich Book Festival.
Millie Gooch is at The Enterprise Centre UEA on Saturday 24 October, from 3pm to 4pm, for a talk called Hangxiety. It's part of the Norwich Book Festival 2026, which runs from 24 to 30 October, so this is one of the opening sessions of the week.
The talk is a popular-science look at how alcohol messes with your mind, and the title Hangxiety gives you the gist of where it's heading: that specific, jittery anxiety that sets in the day after a few too many. Gooch takes the science behind it and lays it out in a way that makes sense, so you'll walk away with a better handle on what's actually happening in your head when the hangover hits.
It's not just a talk, either. There'll be books for sale and a signing afterwards, so if you want a copy of her work to take home, you can get it signed on the day. It's a good spot to pick up the book and then stick around to ask a question or two if you've got something on your mind.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Norwich and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

Tickets are under £10, and the whole thing runs from 3pm to 4pm at The Enterprise Centre UEA, right on the UEA campus. It's an afternoon session, so you'll be out by four, leaving the rest of your Saturday wide open.
