Concert by slide guitar master Martin Harley, blending blues, folk and Americana, presented by PRB at the Norwich Arts Centre.
Martin Harley plays the Norwich Arts Centre on Wednesday 18 November, as part of the PRB series. He's a slide guitar player who works across Americana, blues and folk, and he'll be performing solo.
He's known for his lap-slide style, and over three decades he's recorded in Texas, Nashville and Wales. That American connection runs through a lot of his work: he's been nominated for Americana Music Awards for Instrumentalist of the Year and Best Acoustic Blues Artist, and he's played to sold-out crowds at London's Union Chapel, as well as Glastonbury and the Royal Albert Hall. His music has also turned up on TV, with tracks appearing in The Vampire Diaries and Banshee.
He's collaborated with 14-time Grammy winner Jerry Douglas and drummer Derek Mixon, and his album Static in the Wires reached number two on the iTunes Blues charts. He recorded the live album Live at Southern Ground in Nashville with Daniel Kimbro on upright bass, and his latest release, Morning Sun, was recorded at Airtight Studios in Manchester and produced by Nigel Stonier.
