Lol Tolhurst, co-founder of The Cure, plays a night of music from The Cure's catalogue at the Norwich Arts Centre.
Lol Tolhurst plays Norwich Arts Centre on Thursday 29 October, an evening of music from The Cure's catalogue. He's a co-founder of the band and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and he's performing on his own this time around.
Tolhurst's history with The Cure goes back to the very beginning. He first met Robert Smith when he was five years old and helped form the band in 1976 on drums, before moving to keyboards. He stayed until 1989, leaving after the recording of Disintegration, and toured the world behind Three Imaginary Boys, Seventeen Seconds, Faith and Pornography.
Since then, he's kept busy. In the early nineties he moved to Southern California, where he writes, records and tours with his own band, Levinhurst. In 2011 he reunited with his former bandmates to perform with The Cure again for the first time in over twenty years. He's also an author: his 2016 memoir Cured: The Tale Of Two Imaginary Boys and his 2023 book GOTH: A History both look back at the scene he helped build. More recently, in 2022 he teamed up with Budgie of Siouxsie and the Banshees and producer Jacknife Lee on the album Los Angeles, which came out and toured in late 2023.
