Wildlife filmmaker Gordon Buchanan shares his wild encounters behind the lens in a session at The Forum during Norwich Science Festival.
Gordon Buchanan is coming to The Forum on Saturday 13 February, as part of this year's Norwich Science Festival. The session is called Lions and Tigers and Bears, and it's just that: Buchanan, an award-winning wildlife filmmaker, taking the audience behind the lens to share his wild encounters.
If you've seen his work, you know the sort of thing he does — the close-up, high-stakes wildlife footage that usually only happens on a screen. This is the chance to hear the stories that don't make it into the final cut: the logistics of getting into position, the moments that almost went wrong, and what it's actually like to be that close to the animals. He's the one leading the session, so it's his own accounts rather than a curated reel.
It sits inside the Norwich Science Festival, which is an annual celebration of science that spreads across the city and gathers at The Forum during the February half term. The festival was named Festival of the Year 2026 at the Suffolk & Norfolk Tourism Awards, and this is one of the sessions it brings to the city centre during that window. If you're around for the half term, there's usually a fair bit more going on around the city at the same time.

It runs from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday 13 February at The Forum, so it's a daytime slot rather than an evening one. If you're into wildlife filmmaking or just want to hear someone talk about their time in the field, that's the one to keep an eye on.
