Debut queer Latinx musical by Alpaqa about a Peruvian altar boy in love with Jesus, with live music.
JEEZUS! plays Norwich Theatre Stage Two on 6 and 7 November, with both shows starting at 7:30pm. It's a queer Latinx musical by Sergio Antonio Maggiolo, who grew up queer in conservative Catholic Latin America, and it follows a Peruvian altar boy in love with Jesus.
The show has a bit of a history behind it. It started as a one-person autobiographical piece written between 2021 and 2022, but audience feedback singled out the songs, and it grew into a two-person, multirole musical. It was nominated for a Stage Debut Award and won the Untapped Award, and it sold out at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2025. After that, live music was added for its London run and UK tour, which is the version that's coming to Norwich.

Maggiolo wrote and directed the piece, and it's performed by Alpaqa, an award-winning migrant-led company. The creators describe it as "hilarious, unhinged and holy, with great Latinx tunes," and they say it arrives in Norwich "hotter, sweatier and even more unhinged" than before. It's part of the REWRITES programme, and the two nights are 6 and 7 November at 7:30pm at Norwich Theatre Stage Two.
