Jazz trio Jazz Sabbath, led by pianist Adam Wakeman, brings its jazz arrangements of Black Sabbath songs to the Norwich Arts Centre.
Jazz Sabbath are playing Norwich Arts Centre on Tuesday 6 April 2027, with the music starting at 8:00 PM and the venue open from 7:00 PM. It's a rescheduled date, moved from Thursday 22 October 2026.
The band is a British jazz trio that reimagines Black Sabbath songs in a jazz idiom. They present themselves as having been founded in 1968 by the original authors of the tracks that Black Sabbath later made famous, and they've been led since 2004 by pianist Adam Wakeman, who played with Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne. The set works its way through those songs, taking the riffs that defined heavy metal and running them through a jazz lens. They describe it as exploring the boundary between the two, revisiting existing jazz riffs and discovering new ones along the way.
It's not just a one-off idea. The trio has three albums that have performed well on the Billboard Jazz Charts, and they've played sold-out shows around the world, picking up reviews in both jazz and rock press. The Norwich show is part of that touring life, bringing the same material to St Benedicts Street.
