Jazz guitar solo set by Jamie Leeming, followed by support from composer and bandleader Jasmine Myra at the Norwich Arts Centre.
Jamie Leeming plays Norwich Arts Centre on Tuesday 27 October, with composer and bandleader Jasmine Myra supporting. It's a double bill of jazz guitar and keys, and the two sets run back-to-back: Leeming plays from 8.00 to 8.30pm, and Myra takes over from 9.00pm until the end.
Leeming is one of London's most sought-after jazz guitarists, and you'll likely recognise his name from the credits of Alfa Mist, Tom Misch and Jas Kayser. He's spent a lot of his career as a collaborator and session musician, but he's been stepping out as a leader for a few years now. He first released solo material with pianist Maria Chiara Argirò on the 2020 album Flow, then put out his debut solo long player, Resynthesis, in 2022 on Alfa Mist's Sekito imprint. His latest, Sequent, is a twelve-track record that draws on the I Ching and reaches beyond the jazz trio format with orchestration, produced with Alfa Mist and featuring contributions from Laura Misch, Sly5thAve and Kaya Thomas-Dyke, who painted the cover. An expanded Sequent (Extended) later added two new studio tracks to the set.
Supporting him is Jasmine Myra, who has just released her third album, Where Light Settles. It's her first self-produced record on the Gondwana label, with label boss Matthew Halsall as contributing producer, following the critically acclaimed Horizons (2022) and Rising (2024). Between the two of them, you've got a night that moves from Leeming's guitar-led work into Myra's compositions.
