A talk by Britain's first astronaut, Helen Sharman, on the future of spaceflight, as the headline event of the Norwich Science Festival 2027.
Helen Sharman is coming to The Forum on Saturday 13 February, as part of the Norwich Science Festival 2027. She's Britain's first astronaut, and the session is titled Space for the Future.
It's billed as the headline event of the festival, and the subject is exactly what you'd expect: Sharman shares her views on the future of spaceflight. Given she's actually been up there, it's a perspective that doesn't come from a press release or a textbook, but from someone who's seen the curve of the Earth with her own eyes. The session is aimed at adults, so it's less of a school-trip demonstration and more of a proper talk.
It's worth remembering where this fits in. The Norwich Science Festival is an award-winning, city-wide celebration of science that runs every year throughout February Half Term across Norwich and at The Forum. It's a big deal for the city, and it picked up Festival of the Year at the 2026 Suffolk & Norfolk Tourism Awards, so this is one of the main draws of the whole thing.
