Floral Image & The Heavenly Bodes

Floral Image and The Heavenly Bodes share a bill at Norwich Arts Centre on Friday 6 November, with Elenwen opening the night. It's a double bill of two bands coming from different corners of the country, and both sit in that loose, psych-leaning territory where 1960s garage and pop meet something a bit more sprawling.

Floral Image are Norwich's own, an indie neo-psychedelic band whose sound pulls together lush 1960s psych-pop, motorik rhythms, garage-rock and multi-part vocal harmonies. Their debut album, Gone Down Meadowland, came out in spring 2025 on Fuzz Club Records and runs a bit of a split: Side A is bright pop, with 'Burning 305' and 'The Score' among the tracks; Side B shifts into darker garage and motorik rock, including 'Tiergarten' and the seven-minute epic 'Sun For Hire'. They've supported Holy Wave, Glass Beams, Goat, Rose City Band and Los Bitchos, and have been played on BBC Radio 6 Music, Apple Music 1 and Radio X.

The Heavenly Bodes are stalwarts of the new 'Kernow Beat' from Cornwall. They formed in 2022, drawing together members from three existing projects — KLEN, Thin Walls and The Booyah Settlement — and their sound looks back to early Flying Nun bands, '60s Pebbles-esque garage and artists like White Fence. They've opened for The Chills, Mandrake Handshake and Penny Arcade.

Doors open at 7:00 PM, with the music starting at 8:00 PM. Tickets start from £14, with a supporter concession at £16, and it's free for under 26s.
