Willy Russell's award-winning musical about twins separated at birth, exploring the gap between rich and poor.
Blood Brothers comes to Norwich Theatre Royal from Tuesday 16 to Saturday 20 March 2027. It's Willy Russell's long-running musical, which spent over 24 years on London's West End and topped 10,000 performances there, earning the nickname 'the Standing Ovation Musical' along the way.
The story follows twins separated at birth when their mother strikes a desperate deal with her wealthy employer. It pits working-class Mickey against the well-to-do Eddie, and from there it becomes a searing look at the gap between rich and poor and the age-old nature versus nurture debate. The score includes modern classics like 'Tell Me It's Not True', 'Marilyn Monroe' and 'Bright New Day', and critics have called it 'one of the best musicals ever written' (Sunday Times), 'dazzling' (Sunday Telegraph) and 'timeless and thrilling' (Sunday Express). It's recommended for audiences aged 12 and over.
Vivienne Carlyle plays Mrs Johnstone, with Kristofer Harding and Richard Munday as Narrators. Sean Jones is Mickey, Joe Sleight is Eddie, Tricia Adele Turner is Mrs Lyons, Beth Danher is Linda, Jamil Abbasi is Neighbour, Sarah Moss plays Donna Marie and Miss Jones, Amelia Poggenpoel is Brenda, Jack Anthony Smart is Perkins, Tim Churchill is Mr Lyons, Michael Gillette is Sammy, Alex Harland plays Policeman and Teacher, and Graeme Kinniburgh is Bus Conductor and Postman.
