A spectacular one-kilometre Christmas light trail at Leazes Park with a Christmas Village, featuring installations and festive activities.
Northern Lights Newcastle returns to Leazes Park on Friday 20 November, running through to Thursday 31 December. It's a kilometre-long light trail that takes over the park, with the entrance on Barrack Road. The route runs in the shadow of St James' Park, and the lights are paired with a Christmas Village of regional artisan food and drink, vintage fairground rides and festive pit stops.
This year's theme is A Christmas Time Machine, which rewinds through the decades on a nostalgic journey through Christmas past and present. Along the way there are interactive areas, selfie spots and a marshmallow zone inspired by children who have stayed at Great North Children's Hospital. The trail itself is built around installations like glowing moss, neon butterflies and a river of 8,000 LEDs pulsing in time to a bespoke musical score. Well-behaved dogs on a lead are welcome.
It's put on by From the Fields, the team behind Kendal Calling and Bluedot Festival. Since it launched in 2021, the trail has welcomed more than 1.2 million visitors across the UK, with over 300,000 coming to Newcastle alone, where it's become one of the North East's most loved winter traditions.
