Northern Ballet perform Cinderella, choreographed by Michael Pink, to Prokofiev's music played live.
Northern Ballet bring Cinderella to Newcastle Theatre Royal from Wednesday 28 to Saturday 31 October, with the production running for four days. It's the timeless story we all know, choreographed by Michael Pink for Milwaukee Ballet and set to Prokofiev's score, which is played live rather than recorded.
Pink's version balances the big moments with the quieter ones: sweeping waltzes and tender duets sit alongside the more comic, laugh-out-loud characters that populate the story. It follows the familiar arc from the early days of the stepmother's house to the ball and the search for the owner of the slipper, and it closes on a romantic finale where love, kindness and a perfectly fitting slipper bring the whole thing to a 'happily ever after'.
It's a production that works for all ages, so it's an easy one to bring the family along to. A couple of things to keep in mind: there's smoke and mist used throughout, and the final performance is audio described and preceded by a pre-show Touch Tour, which is a great option if you're booking for someone who'd appreciate it.

There are plenty of ways to fit it in over the four days. Evening shows are at 7.30pm from Wednesday to Saturday, with matinees on Thursday at 2pm and Saturday at 2.30pm. The running time is 2 hours and 10 minutes, including two intervals, so you'll be out well before the night is over. The Theatre Royal is on Grey Street in the city centre, NE1 6BR.
